New Spring Accessories for Men & Women

We here at Fancy Tiger Clothing have been basking in the lovely spring weather, leaving our door open to let the fresh air in and letting in some new spring accessories to brighten up your look.

Lockets have been coming back full force and at this year's trade shows in Vegas we picked up a new line exploring the art of lockets, Locket 2 You. Founded in early 2009, this husband and wife run company based in Portland brings together muted tones with artistic renderings of woodland creatures and various other subjects creating these romantic pieces that would be a compliment to any spring wardrobe.

This Spring we are also stocking up the men's section with some excellent accessories with a focus on function. Dynomighty Design founded in 2002 by Terrence Kelleman who came up with the idea for the company while working at the The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and pursuing his creative passions as a photographer and performance artist. With a focus on innovative, creative and affordable design products, Dynomighty Design has created a wallet from a single sheet of Tyvex (think express mail envelopes) that can withstand almost anything. These wallets are tear-resistant, expandable and recyclable and consist of a writable surface making this the perfect wallet for the person on the go.

Last but certainly not least, the staple for all Spring wardrobes, the hat. Let's face it hats are practical and with the styles we've seen coming back they are a new statement piece that is a great addition to any ensemble. Come in and take a look for yourself at these new Brixton hats.

April Denver Made Interview: TROPHYclothing

April's Denver Made features the work of up and coming fashion designer Haley Mariah Dedajic and her line, TROPHYclothing. At just twenty years of age, Haley represents one of Denver's best and youngest talents in the fashion community. Haley's style is both sexy, mature and playful, using primarily vintage or recycled fabrics. Everyone of Trophy's pieces are one of a kind and inexpensive, keeping with her goal to make women's clothing that she could afford. Recently Haley was kind enough to answer a few questions about her process for us in preparation for her Denver Made Event Friday April 2nd.

FT: How did you come up with the name for your line?

HMD: TROPHYclothing, 'Never be anyone's TROPHY but your own' is a saying that I had to bury myself in before even I could follow it's advice. I see so many women, especially young women, who try so hard to become who or what their partners' want them to be, instead of loving and embracing who they truly are. Starting this clothing line was my way of changing my life, being who I wanted to be, doing what I wanted to do, without any consideration to what others may think of me.

FT: How did you get your start?

HMD: When I was little, my mother was the fashion sketching teacher at the art institute, so instead of daycare, I went to fashion class. I started dressing my barbies, and eventually myself and my friends.

FT: Where do you find your best inspiration for your work?

HMD: Most of my inspiration comes from the emotion or mood you get from wearing a certian type of clothing. If I am in a more feminine mood, I create very girly clothing, if I am a more artistic mood, I can spend hours manipulating fabrics, and making more intricate clothing.

FT: Do you listen to music when you work, if so what?

HMD: It really depends on my mood, but more often than not I listen to recorded thunderstorms, there is nothing more relaxing than spending a rainy day inside sewing, even if its not really raining outside.

FT: What would you like people to know about your work/process that isn’t evident when looking at it?

HMD: I rarely plan, I never use patterns, it really is an organic creative process for me.

Come join us Friday April 2nd from 7pm-10pm to celebrate April's Denver Made designer, TROPHYclothing and enjoy beverages from Great Divide Brewery!

Fancy Focus

This is the first installment of a new monthly feature where we set our sites on events happening in the Denver area to pass along our suggestions to you. For the first installment we are focusing on an event that pairs a local designer with a local DJ, Ideal Woman: 36-24-36.

The Ideal Woman, is described by the artist Allie Pohl's on her website as, "a unique exhibition that comments on the female body in its idealized form - encouraging visitors to grab and squeeze the sculptural forms which reflect the measurements of the perfect woman. This exhibition will feature high definition videos, emerging sculptural forms and edition 2 of the Ideal Woman: Necklace."

DJ Tyler Snow, who hosts a monthly dance night at the Meadowlark entitled Disco Nouveau, will be spinning tunes at the opening reception from 6pm-10pm this evening at Hinterland. There will be another opening event Friday April 2nd and the exhibition will be on view at Hinterland through April 23rd.

Spring Accessories and a Sneak Peak...

With spring comes new ideas and new product lines at Fancy Tiger Clothing. The first new designer, Sweet Evie hails from Los Angeles and builds on this theme of growth with these indigenous designs and use of natural materials. Charlotte Kruse, the designer behind Sweet Evie is combining her interests in nature, texture, color, fashion, history, art and music to create this bold line of handcrafted accessories.

Our second in a series of new spring lines comes from our own backyard of Boulder, CO. Perla Lu is a mother/daughter creative partnership that works with that same concept of nature but fuses it with man made innovations such as the addition of the zipper to the natural form of the flower broach pictured below. These one-of-a-kind creations are sure to inspire any of your spring looks.

Felt Fun Earrings

And last but certainly not least we did not forget about all the fashionable men out there. Our sneak peak focuses on a new line of classic menswear from Farah that's expected to hit the store next month. The Farah label came about in the 1920s but it was not until the 1970s in the UK that the line reached the cult status it holds today. Farah's introduction to Fancy Tiger Clothing brings about a change that introduces a timeless look at men's fashion to the Denver area, taking it to the next level. This new collection will also bring men's pants into the store providing an alternative to denim.

New Spring wares @ Fancy Tiger Boutique!

Cash Crop, an all organic line from California, has just entered the Denver vortex compliments of Fancy Tiger Boutique. These guys don't mess around...all organic cotton button ups with contrasting colored epaulets. They even do a stunning 100% p.e.t. "leather" jacket made from recycled plastic bottles that we're considering.

Cheap Monday delivers. Once again we've leaned on this Sweden based brand to provide us with some sweeet standards. A black button up that replaces all others, short and long sleeve gingham and comfort womens pieces that make the Spring that much more welcome. Enjoy.
